Absolutely BEAUTIFUL book in every way! I have a huge collection of all things David Bowie and this is my favorite by far. Perfect!!

***** A comprehensive overview of a decade of greatness

If you're a Bowie fan, especially of his "classic" 1970-1980 period, then, yes, this book belongs in your collection. It's a major extension of Griffin's amazing Golden Years website, which is now apparently undergoing reconstruction. Virtually every event in his creative life—and certain relevant events in his personal life—from that decade is compiled here, including photos, and is supplemented by quotes from Bowie and those who lived with/loved/worked with him. I'm only about a year older than Bowie's son, so while I remember certain key Ziggy/Diamond Dogs/Young Americans songs, his appearance on Soul Train, and his duet with Bing Crosby, I was much too young in those days to realize "all those singers" was actually the same man. Learning the full extent of Bowie's work during the 70s came a lot later for me, and this book is a great reference!

***** Truly fabulous book worthy of its subject!

As a Bowie fan since "Hunky Dory" days, I had seen the "David Bowie Is..." exhibit both at its first mounting at the V&A in London, and its final run in Brooklyn. I give this as preface to offer my Bowie cred when I say this gorgeous book is more than an eye-popping, day-by-day chronicle of his glory years, but is even studded with quotes and anecdotes from the man himself, as well as close friends and associates. It is pricey, yes, but such a worthwhile extravagance for even a jaded fan such as myself.

***** Great book if you loved David Bowie

This is an excellent book, and not simply another coffee table book. It puts Bowie's career during the 70's into perspective, reminding us that the decade belonged to him. Having read several biographies on him I still found a few surprises. It's worthwhile reading, and a beautiful collector's item.

This book really has a 'fascination' element to it. A wonderful account of his profound influence of that period. His music, his mesmerizing presence, they way he intellectually seduced the world and of course his ability to stay ahead of the times. Any Bowie fan or music fan will enjoy this in-depth journey of his domination of this period. Highly recommended. I maybe a huge Bowie fan, I am not easily impressed, I have high standards, this book exceeded them...

A lavish labour of love. A really detailed work packed to the gills with photographs and details relating to Bowies classic 70s output. A must for Bowie fans and contemporary music historians. Buy it, it will never let you down.

Amazing book for all you Bowie fans and the author is such a lovely helpful man. The detail is incredible and if you are a huge Bowie fan as i am you will be looking at it as a Bowie bible for all the info you get from this, and also if you need a gig date or where it was and what tour it was plus loads more including some wonderful photo's just buy the book and you will get the answers to most things Bowie!

I've collected quite a lot of material on Bowie over the past 40+ years and this book perfectly sums up the period 1970-80. It's a large heavy book and details events/albums/tours chronologically with photos on every page.
